Rudy H. Lopez is an Assistant Professor and Fashion Merchandising Internship Coordinator in the Department of Fashion Design + Merchandising in the School of the Arts. His research is based on observations of the current zeitgeist and how it influences fashion. Further exploration of streetwear, subcultures, history, military uniforms, forecasting, and technology and its relationships to society and fashion are also themes throughout his work.
He is an alumnus of the VCUarts Fashion Merchandising program and has also studied at Parsons The New School for Design. Past endeavors and partnerships include Need Supply Co., Henry, Triple 5 Soul, Classickicks, Sneakerpimps, O.R.F.I. (Organization for Returning Fashion Interest), Sons of Washington, Wale, Raekwon, Quirk Gallery, Studio Two Three, and the Valentine Richmond History Center.
Currently, he designs and collaborates with sibling artist, Michelle Lopez, on their esses line. Additionally, he designs and creates childrenswear line, High Prospect, and is actively involved with the Virginia creative and retail scene.
