Michael Royce is an artist working primarily in painting and textiles. In 2018, he received his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Painting and Printmaking, and his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011. Recent and upcoming exhibitions include work at Geoffery Young Gallery, Steven Zevitas Gallery, the Elizabeth Foundation, and the Golden Foundation for the Arts. Royce has attended residencies at the Yale at Norfolk Summer School of Music and Art, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the Golden Foundation for the Arts, among others. He was awarded an Investing In Professional Artists: Creative Development Grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Heinz Endowments, as well as the David Wurtzel Memorial Fellowship in 2017 from Virginia Commonwealth University. He was recently included in issue 141 and 147 of New American Paniting. Royce currently teaches in the Foundation Program and the Communication Arts Department at Virginia Commonwealth University.
