Kelly Teeling is the Executive Director of Recruitment and Admissions at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Art. She oversees recruitment and admission to the school’s graduate, undergraduate, and pre-college programs. Before joining VCUarts in 2021, she served as the Director of First Year Admission and Coordinator of Scholarship Programs at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
Teeling has over a decade of experience supporting students, families, and educators as they navigate the college search process; demystifying the portfolio and audition process; and serving schools of visual and performing arts. She currently serves on the board of directors of the National Portfolio Day Association. This organization plans National Portfolio Day events where students meet one-on-one with professional representatives of accredited colleges and universities and receive feedback and guidance on their portfolios before submitting their applications.
Teeling holds a B.F.A. in fine art photography from the Corcoran College of Art & Design. She is currently earning an M.Ed. in higher education leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.
