David Jonghak Kim moved back to Richmond, VA after graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a Bachelor’s in Composition. As a piano student, David attended the International Institute of Young Musicians at Kansas University during high school. He was a counselor helping young rising pianists worldwide develop much higher musicianship. David participated in master classes and attended piano lessons with acclaimed pianists/professors such as Dr. David Kreider, Judith Ferencz (McDaniel College), Judith Schultz, Awadagin Pratt (Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music), Dr. Jack Winerock (Kansas University), Gabriel Kwok (Hong Kong Academy of Music), and Gustavo Romero. David also studied composition with acclaimed composers such as Dr. Glenn Caldwell (McDaniel College), Dr. Keith Fitch (Cleveland Institute of Music), Dr. Margaret Brouwer, Paul Schoenfield, Tania Leon, Joan Tower, and Robert Beasley (Juilliard School of Music), as well as conducting classes with Michael Adelson (Cover conductor of New York Philharmonic).

David teaches Keyboard Skills I & III and is an accompanist for VCU Choirs, Commonwealth Choir, and Choral Arts Society.
