The VCUarts Department of Art Education is offering the Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K-9. Classes are taught by graduate and undergraduate art education students on the VCU campus. Classes are divided by age groups and four classes are offered each session. The camp will provide opportunities for students to explore a variety of media such as digital media, painting, drawing, printmaking, bookmaking, fibers, and more.

Class Size: 20
Per the legal Code of Virginia, all children who attend Creative Arts Day Camp must be at least six years of age by the start of attending camp (e.g. born on or before June 16th, 2019 if attending the first week of camp). Creative Arts Day Camp still offers enrollment for rising grades K-9.
2025 Session Dates
- Session 1: June 16th-20th*
- Session 2: June 23rd-27th
- Session 3: July 7th-11th
- Session 4: July 14th-18th
- Session 5: July 21st-25th
- Session 6: July 28th-August 1st
*CADC will take a break from June 30th-July 4th. CADC will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. Therefore, Session 1’s tuition rate will be adjusted to $228, with an aftercare fee of $40, to accommodate the closure.
Lessons will change on a weekly basis. Participants are encouraged to sign up for more than one session.
Camp Days, Time, and Venue
CADC runs from Monday-Thursday from 9AM to 4PM and 9AM to 5PM on Friday for our weekly art show.
Students take four classes, three mixed media courses and one digital media course. Our class schedule is as follows:
- 1st Period: 9:00 AM-10:35 AM,
- 2nd Period: 10:35 AM-12:05 PM
- LUNCH: 12:05 PM-12:45 PM
- 3rd Period: 12:45 PM-2:15 PM
- 4th Period: 2:15 PM-3:45 PM
The classes taught will change each session, and participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions!
Drop-off runs from 8:40 AM to 9:10 AM
Pick up 3:45 – 4:20 PM

2025 Tuition Rates (per session)
- Tuition – $280 per child
- Extended Care & Pick-Up – $50 per child
Applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis until sessions are full. We are only able to secure spots in a session once both payment and an enrollment application are received. Enrollment confirmation and payment receipts will be sent by email.
This year, we are incorporating an extended care option to accommodate families who could not meet our original cut-off time of 4:30 pm! This is an optional add-on for families to select during the registration process. CADC’s extended-care will include extended supervision and an activity until 6:00 pm, with pick-up ending at 6:30 pm. The fee is $50/child in addition to the registration fee for one week of camp.
Please note: this new addition does not replace our original pick-up time of 4:30, but is a paid add-on for families who could benefit from picking their students up at a later time!
Additional Discounts
A 5% discount will be applied to your total bill if you meet any one of the following criteria:
- VCU employee or student (for children or legal dependents of VCU employees or students only)
- Enroll more than one child at Creative Arts Day Camp
- Enroll your child in multiple camp sessions
Refund Policy: Ahead of the preparation of CADC 2025 sessions, you can request a full refund minus a $10 processing fee. However, from May 16th until June 15th, 2025 we can only provide a 50% refund in the case of cancellation. Once camp begins on June 16th, 2025 we are unable to provide refunds.
- Refunds from February 10th-May 15th = (Session fee*- $10 processing fee)
- Refunds from May 16th – June 15th = (Session fee* – 50%)
- Once camp begins on June 16th, 2025 we are unable to provide refunds.
*Session fee refunded is based on total paid at time of checkout (included added discounts).
We understand that medical issues may arise. Please email us as soon as possible to inform us of your need to cancel. We will provide a full refund less a $10 processing fee if you submit a written excuse from your child’s physician.
In the case you need to cancel a session you’ve registered for, you can make a refund request by contacting us through email (artedcadc@vcu.edu) please indicate the session(s) you wish to cancel and the reason if applicable.
In the event that the activity is canceled, due to low enrollment or any other reason, you will be refunded in full accordingly.
Session-Change Policy: If you would like to switch to another session of Creative Arts Day Camp, we can process this request along with a $10 processing fee up until the session of your choice is full or has begun.
Waitlist Policy: If a session is full, families looking to join a waitlisted session can do so by following the prompts on the registration form. From there, you will fill out your student’s information as normal, then when prompted to select a session, you can join the waitlist. We will notify you via email immediately if a seat becomes available. You will have 24 hours to register from the link sent in the email before the next person is notified to register. Once a session is under two weeks from the start date, we will email all families on the waitlisted session at once. The first to respond will get the seat.

You can now apply for scholarships through our registration form! To best be considered, applications should be submitted by Friday, May 2nd.
Volunteering
Creative Arts Day Camp offers the opportunity for High School students to receive volunteer hours with our program. Students will have the chance to directly assist teachers in the classroom with a variety of tasks. Interested candidates are expected to maintain a level of responsibility and take initiative in their role as they will be working closely with K-9 students. Please apply here.
