You’ll find us at the heart of a large public research university, meaning you can collaborate with students and faculty from every corner of VCU. Whether you want to work with engineering students to reinvent transportation systems, use photography and film to raise awareness about conservation issues, or explore how design can inform conversations about history and public spaces, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for dynamic collaboration. Art Foundation Program

Building a strong first-year experience

The Art Foundation program (AFO) is the prerequisite first year, required for entry into all undergraduate programs in the visual art and design departments. It provides you with an intellectually rigorous, studio-based experience in the fundamental issues of art and design. AFO is designed to help you foster an enthusiasm for your work and the means to reflect analytically and critically.
