Internships

The Department of Fashion Design and Merchandising encourages all students to complete an internship.  An internship is one of the best experiences a student can have during his or her undergraduate studies.  Internships provide hands-on, on-site learning and help students build their professional networks.  Internship opportunities are available all over the U.S and the world, and include experiences in areas such as product development, design room assistant, buying or merchandise management assistant, forecasting, and technical design.

Study Abroad

VCU Fashion wants its students to experience a world class educational experience. Study abroad programs have been established to give students a perspective of fashion across several cultures. Our students have studied abroad in places like Paris, London, Scotland, and Florence. The study abroad opportunities provide course credit towards earning a degree.

Fashion in Florence Study Abroad Program
Fashion in Florence is a summer study abroad program and a semester program.  VCU Fashion partners with Santa Reparata International School of Art to offer courses for both design and merchandising students.  Students from other disciplines have also been participants.

VCUarts Qatar Exchange Program
Fashion design and merchandising students have the unique opportunity to spend a semester at our sister campus in Doha, Qatar.  Each year, students from the School of the Arts apply for this very competitive program.
