Ruth Hibbs Hyland Scholarship (MAE and BFA)

Eligible students have completed an application for clinical internship and are planning to register for Student Teaching (TEDU 485, TEDU 486 and ARTE 404).

Established in 1975, the Ruth Hibbs Hyland Scholarship trust fund is named after the founder of the department. It was established for the sole purpose of awarding scholarships to outstanding Art Education students whose futures hold promise of continuing the same ideals for art education as those promoted by Mrs. Hyland. Mrs. Hyland not only recognized the importance of training students in pedagogy, but in the studio arts as well. She further realized the need to prepare students who could develop art programs for grades K-12 that would acquaint young people with what she called the “joys of art.”

Allen N. Lewis Scholarship (BFA only)

All undergraduate art education students are eligible to apply but preference will be given to students that have completed an application for clinical internship and who are planning to register for student teaching (TEDU 485, TEDU 486 and ARTE 404).
