Richmond, VA – Composed of undergraduate music and non-music major students, the VCU Symphony, directed by Daniel Myssyk, is eager to present to you its second program of the season.
The orchestra will play Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 5 ‘Reformation’, a work conceived as a victory of Protestantism over Catholicism, filled with rich counterpoint, and at times evoking sounds from the Renaissance.
Also on the program, VCU flute faculty Tabatha Easley, will perform the flute version of Khachaturian’s violin concerto, a piece blending Eastern folk traditions and colors with Western Classical music.
Our brass section will open the concert with a medley of several memorable pieces by celebrated Argentinian tango composer Astor Piazzolla.
Arrive prepared to hear selections of contrasting styles and emotions, uniquely displayed by our beloved orchestra!
Performance December 3, 2025 at 7:00PM in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts (922 Park Ave Richmond, VA 23284).
