The Department of Communication Arts is pleased to present a Visiting Artist Lecture from Aleah Chapin. Please join us on Tuesday, September 9th from 4:00 – 5:30 pm in Franklin Terrace room 403 for Aleah’s presentation.

Aleah’s work continuously begs the question: What does it mean to exist within a body today? Through her direct depictions of the human form, painter Aleah Chapin has helped expand the conversation surrounding western culture’s artistic representations of the body. Much of her work explores the complex themes of aging, gender, and beauty, deeply shaped by the Pacific Northwestern island where she grew up. In 2020, her work evolved around the tumultuous times we were living in.

She has exhibited all over the world in countries within the US, Europe, and Asia. Aleah has attended two residencies and has been given multiple awards and grants in support of her work.
