VCUarts and the Anderson are pleased to announce a call for submissions for the 2024 Excellence in Adjunct Research Exhibition, aimed at recognizing outstanding creative research among current VCUarts adjunct faculty members. Through a combination of open application and departmental nomination (see “Timeline and Process Overview” below), one adjunct faculty member will be selected for the annual Excellence in Adjunct Research Exhibition. The exhibition (or discipline-appropriate equivalent, including performance) comes with up to $1,000.00 of production funding for costs associated directly with the realization of the exhibition.
The exhibition is currently scheduled for August 20–September 11, in one of the Anderson’s top floor galleries with an anticipated opening reception on August 23rd. Additional programming (lectures, workshops, etc.) may be scheduled at the discretion of the selected faculty member and Anderson staff. Please note that the Anderson is not equipped with an elevator.
Timeline & Process Overview
4/15 Application period opens. All current VCUarts adjunct faculty serving in any VCUarts department are eligible to apply. Applications may be submitted via this Google Form.
Applications must include:
- The candidate’s name, email address, and years of service with the department
- 5–10 representative images of the candidate’s research
- The candidate’s artist statement, bio and CV
Please note: An exhibition proposal is not required. Applications should address the candidate’s research and practice in general terms.
4/30 Application period closes at 11:59pm
5/10 Exhibition recipient announced
7/1 Production funds become available. The Anderson will conduct transactions on behalf and at the direction of the exhibition recipient. Award funds cannot be distributed directly to the recipient. Funds may not be used to purchase tech or media equipment.
8/8 Begin exhibition install. The Anderson will provide staff support for installation.
8/20 Exhibition opens. First day of classes.
8/23 Reception 5–8pm
9/11 Exhibition concludes. Deinstall must be completed by EOD on 9/15.
