Seung-Ho Lee is an Assistant Professor of Interior Design in the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also taught previously at The Glasgow School of Art in Singapore and the University of Ulsan in South Korea. He has practiced architecture and interior design in multiple cities, including Seoul, Melbourne, Paris, and Helsinki, over a decade. His work has been widely acclaimed in the field, and he has been recognized for several awards, including the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture/Mies van der Rohe Award 2011 and FINNISH ARCHITECTURE 0809, an international triennale architecture festival organized by the Museum of Finnish Architecture.
His multicultural and interdisciplinary research speculates on the notion of interiority, which is the fundamental poetics of the interior, by incorporating “artistic research,” specifically engaging with various types of “curatorial practice” that situate at the intersection between art and design. His research platform, Studio Design Domain, explores potential domains, roles, and modalities of the interior design discipline. He holds a Master of Arts from Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
