With a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and a MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Jose Andreu has exhibited in the United States, Mexico, Cuba, and Spain and currently teaches painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and 2D design at Columbia College Chicago. He continues to paint portraits and commissions and manages the Copying at the Museum class at The Art Institute of Chicago, teaching copyists traditional painting techniques. As well as recreating historical masterpieces, Andreu also continues making prints, mosaics, murals and virtual sculpture. His personal work documents the morphology of identity. It uses structures that reflect abstract ideas about space, form, and illusion as well as color and light.
