For the past couple of years my work has been based on research in the Arctic. In the fall of 2012 I participated in The Arctic Circle, a research expedition that sails to Svalbard reaching as far as 80 degrees north. This expedition stimulated a new body of work still in progress. I am planning a return to Svalbard in the summer of 2014 to continue research. In the fall of 2013 I will be in residence at the Anchorage Museum, in Alaska, as part of the Museum’s Northern Initiative. This residency will provide me an opportunity to expand my arctic research and present it at Iceland’s Energy Summit. Recently, I have been awarded grants from the Pollock Krasner Foundation and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. I received these grants partly due to my research in the Arctic Circle.
