Allison McGowan, is a studio ceramist living in Concord, North Carolina. She received her MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She was a resident artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia and was the recipient of the Sage Scholarship from the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT. Allison has shown nationally and internationally in various solo and group exhibitions such as Fort Wayne Museum of Art; Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Worcester Center for Crafts; Northern Clay Center; and the Artstream, a nomadic gallery. She has presented lectures and workshops at various communities such as Bowling Green University; University of Wisconsin- Whitewater, University of Manitoba- Winnipeg CANADA, and Penland School of Crafts. Allison taught at Rowan University and Immaculata University. Currently she is a full time artist and mother, focusing on creating voluminous handbuilt pots that will be admired and used.
