To the VCUarts community,

I am thrilled to share some good news with all of you. This morning, U.S. News and World Report released rankings for 2021 Best Master of Fine Arts Programs. VCUarts is again highly ranked as the #2 public university and #4 among all MFA programs. The results are an extremely tight margin among the top tier schools in the nation, such as UCLA, Yale and Chicago (SAIC).

Our Sculpture program retains the #1 ranking. For the first time, Kinetic Imaging has been ranked, and at #5, in the Time-Based – New Media category.Several of our specialty programs have risen in the rankings, including Graphic Design at #4 and Printmaking at #2. Our Painting program is also ranked #12.

Our robust community of creative minds continues to be recognized internationally. Through the years, our faculty members have been awarded Guggenheim Fellowships; Grammy, Emmy, and Tony awards; Obies, ArtPrize, Anonymous Was a Woman and Harker awards; federal research grants; and Educator of the Year awards. Students and faculty are committed to pursuing work that is both innovative, relevant, vibrant, and attentive to a wide variety of needs and issues as they arise in the world.

I am proud to be part of this great School. A sincere thanks to all of you for your hard work, dedication and continuous support of VCUarts.

Sincerely,
Nancy Scott
