VCUart Students and Faculty Win VMFA Awards

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has awarded $158,000 in fellowships to 26 art students and professional artists selected from a record 815 applications this year. Four of the 12 professional fellowships, each worth $8,000, were awarded to VCUarts faculty: Sonya Clark, Chair of Craft/Material Studies; Guadalupe Maravilla, assistant professor of Sculpture + Extended Media; Bob Paris, associate professor of Kinetic Imaging, and Jane Winefield, adjunct faculty member in the Art Foundation Program.

The following VCUarts undergraduates have also received awards worth $4,000 each: Abigail Collins, first-year student; Jessica Cruz, Painting + Printmaking; Jason Ly, Painting + Printmaking; Jacob Medley, Photography + Film; Mark Peyton, Photography + Film; Alexander Sausen, Fashion Design + Merchandising; and Samantha Zephyr Sheedy, Photography + Film.

Claudine Reyes, Kinetic Imaging, was also awarded $2,000 for her final semester studying film/video.
