Shaping Bodies: One Day Symposium

Shaping Bodies brings a group of artists and scholars to VCU who are engaged in conversations around race, body, gender identity, social justice and material culture/histories. These invited artists/scholars will present their individual research, followed by an open-table discussion. This event is scheduled for the spring of 2017.

This symposium, organized by Craft/Material Studies, provides an open space for students and faculty to discuss as a group diverse aspects of identity and overlapping patterns of social injustice. Artists and scholars have been selected as catalysts for these conversations based on their respective research and their dedication to the celebration of diverse identities and respect for the individual.
