Margot Norton is Curatorial Associate at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. Before she started at the New Museum, Norton worked as Curatorial Assistant at the Whitney Museum, where she curated and worked on numerous exhibitions including solo shows by Dianna Molzan and Charles LeDray and the re-hanging of the Whitney’s collection with “Real/Surreal.” Norton also worked as the curatorial assistant on the 2010 Whitney Biennial. Before joining the Whitney, she collaborated with private galleries and non-for-profits as an independent curator. Norton holds a Masters Degree in Curatorial Studies from Columbia University and has published and lectured on contemporary art. She is currently working on future programming at the New Museum. At VCU, Norton will speak about the 2010 Whitney Biennial and how this experience and others have shaped her thinking as a curator in the contemporary art field.
