Nicole Levaque is currently interested in the staging and documentation of sculpture and pursuing questions of the commodification of creative capitol. Collecting and mimicry allow for materials and objects to be aesthetically and laboriously repurposed to create abstracted still lives and tableaus. Her aesthetic influence comes from environmental and cultural references: the effects of suburban waste, residential renovations, and the merging of synthetic and natural materiality.
Levaque received her BFA from Concordia University in Montreal in 2014. She has since worked as the Sculpture Practicum at the Banff Centre, and pursued international residencies in Cuernavaca Mexico and Reykjavik Iceland.
