Alex Goss

Alex Goss’s sculptural practice sifts through materials expended by industry in search of evidence or residue from human hands. By staging interventions between machines, their operators, and their programming, his work defies the monotony of mass production and “the multiple” in order to emphasize the cast off, the queer, and the unconformable. After receiving a BFA from the Cooper Union in New York City and attending a residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2013, Goss returned to his native state of Texas where he immersed himself in the language of Precision Industrial Manufacturing within the energy and medical sectors. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions of his work in Austin, Baltimore, New York, and Houston. Alex Goss is currently an MFA candidate in Sculpture and Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and is the organizer of Moonmist, an artist-run project space in Houston, Texas.
