Community News from Sculpture + Extended Media: February 2022

Conjunciones & Disyunciones, an exhibition curated by PAPR Professor Noah Simblist opened in Cali, Colombia. The exhibition featured work by the following alumni: Francheska Alcantara (MFA ’19), Deya Guy-Vasson (MFA ’21), Peat Szilagyi (MFA ’20), and Sandy Williams IV (MFA ’19)

The department was well represented at the International Sculpture Center’s Conference: Voices on Community. Professor Michael Jones McKean provided the Keynote Address. Additionally Bonnie Collura (BFA ’94) and Foon Sham (MFA ’81) were 2021 Outstanding Educator recipients and conference speakers

Conscious, Subconscious, (Collective) Unconscious, a group exhibition featuring faculty and alumni, was on view at the Anderson from February 11 – March 4. The show was co-curated by Peat Szilagyi (MFA ’20). Szilagyi additionally moderated a panel discussion to coincide with the exhibition

Professor Massa Lemu presented the talk “The Material and Expressive Aspects of Articulage” as part of the ‘Meet VCU’s Authors’ series with the Humanities Research Center
