Art Education Professor Awarded Federal Grant for Game Design Program

The National Endowment for the Arts recently awarded Dr. Ryan Patton, Assistant Professor, VCU Art Education, a $20,000 Art Works grant to support Learning from Digital Game Design, a program that will train a group of public school art teachers in Virginia to deliver game design in their classrooms throughout the state.

The NEA received 1,515 eligible applications for Art Works grants, and Dr. Patton was one of only 866 grantees nationally.

Learning from Digital Game Design builds on a successful game design program for young people that Dr. Patton developed and delivers each summer at the Smithsonian.
