The Department of Painting + Printmaking values travel as an important vehicle to learn about a wide and diverse range of art and exhibition practices. Students are invited to participate in annual excursions to New York to meet with artists, gallerists, and curators as a part of the Senior Seminar course. Students have also had the opportunity to travel to China, Mexico, Italy, and Germany.
MFA students travel as a part of the Professional Practice class, taken in their second year. These trips often include museums, galleries, private collections, and studio visits with artists. Recent cities that students have visited include Berlin, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Detroit, and New York.
