Two days in Chelsea and Lower East Side with VCU MFA Painting + Printmaking and VCU Sculpture Graduate Students. A tour of fall gallery shows with critic Gregory Volk and students in conversation with artists and gallery directors.

Emmy Thelander PAPR Fountainhead Fellow – Opening at Reynolds Gallery
They Accrue Meaning by Being in the Foreground

Emmy Thelander is an interdisciplinary artist whose methods include painting, video, installation, and drawing. She is interested in the interaction between images and inhabited space, spontaneous activity within confined zones, and superficial efforts of communication. She is currently the Fountainhead Fellow in Painting and Printmaking at VCU. In 2014 she received her MFA from Yale University, and has been an artist-in-residence at ACRE (2014) and the Yale/Norfolk Summer School of Art (2009). She has previously exhibited in Brooklyn, San Francisco, Chicago, and Cambridge, and will present a new work at ITP in Jackson Hole, WY this summer.
First year graduate students in PAPR : Saulat Ajmal, Carolina Aranibar-Fernandez, Eric Diehl, Mat Gasparek, Devin Harclerode, Will Matheson, Beatrice Modisett, and Jake Reller will be showing their candidacy work in the old tobacco drying warehouses at 2601 Maury Street.
Congratulations to Harris Johnson, Grace Weaver, and Matt Yaeger for completing their thesis exhibitions!
Their work is on view at the Anderson Gallery until April 25th.
