Stephanie Fairbairn Ycaza

Stephanie Fairbairn Ycaza is a native of Williamsburg, Va. After completing a Bachelor of Music in tuba performance in the studio of Dr. Ross Walter at VCU, she went on to study at the Yale School of Music. She completed her master’s degree under the instruction of Toby Hanks and her Artist Diploma studies with Mike Roylance. She was active in the Yale School of Music’s outreach program, teaching and performing for students at public schools in inner city New Haven.

In addition to teaching music history at VCU, Ycaza also serves as adjunct instructor of low brass at Virginia State University, Longwood University and the University of Richmond. She enjoys a diverse chamber, band, orchestra and solo performance career, and has performed at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Seoul Center for Performing Arts and the Beijing Performing Arts Center.
