Joana Stillwell grew up around the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii, Japan, Guam, and Washington. She graduated with a BA in Art History and a BFA in Photomedia from the University of Washington in 2012. She has exhibited work nationally and internationally. She has received two commissions through the city of Seattle and was a member of the Seattle based artist collective, SOIL. She works in video and installation exploring everyday phenomena with meditative gestures. She currently lives and works in Richmond, Virginia pursuing her MFA.
