Christiana Lafazani is Chair, Associate Professor, and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Interior Design. Born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, Christiana received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from James Madison University and followed with an MFA in Interior Environments from VCU.

Prior to returning to academia in 2003, Christiana practiced as a design project manager for an architecture and design firm focusing on corporate design, as a store layout and prototype designer for a large electronics retailer, and as a design manager for an office furniture re-manufacturing company.

Christiana’s area of research and study focuses on pedagogy in Interior Design education with particular interest in the effect of technological changes, and in sustainable and ecological issues of the profession.
