At VCUarts, we have long encouraged artists, designers, performers and scholars to mobilize the full wealth of your creative knowledge to shape a future of boundless possibilities. We encourage work that is collaborative and cross-disciplinary, that leverages our place as a leader in arts research located at the heart of an urban research university.

We invest in our students and faculty, helping you take an idea and make it real. Research grants for undergraduates, graduate students and faculty will give you the funding to pursue research or creative work, while our Office of Arts Research and Innovation is here to support faculty with research development, particularly with a cross-disciplinary angle.

Anything you learn in the classroom can be applied to challenges right here in Richmond—or wherever you want to go next. In the Center for the Creative Economy, you can layer your arts education with an entrepreneurial mindset. Or, get involved with the da Vinci Center, which brings together arts, business, engineering, and humanities and sciences students to pursue product development and marketing projects for local clients.

As we move from distinction to preeminence … we will innovate to change better, faster and with greater focus than our peers around the nation. And we will stay true to our roots of discovery in science, scholarship and creative expression to unfailingly serve the public good.
