VCU Fashion will be hosting fashion illustrator Steven Broadway September 25 – September 26. During his visit he will work with each level of fashion design student and conduct a fashion drawing workshop that is open to other arts majors. VCU Qatar Day took place on Tuesday, September 30th. For the past several years, students, staff, and faculty members from VCU Qatar travel from Doha to spend a week on the Richmond campus. VCU Qatar Day helps spread awareness about our international campus in Doha, Qatar through its cultural traditions and interactions. This year’s show spotlighted the senior collection of Hisham Dawoud.
Donwan Harrell, VCU Fashion Design alum, was asked to design pieces for Lee Denim’s 125th Anniversary celebration.

This year, students were able to experience Florence for five weeks. During the program, students attended two of the industries’ most important trade shows, Pitti Uomo and Pitti Filati. They visited Milan, Rome, Siena, and Chianti. The session, June 17 – July 22, was led by program director Kim Guthrie. Courses offered during this session were Fashion Forecasting and Italian Fashion History and Italian Fashion Language.
Angie Bacskocky, VCUarts fashion alumna, will be one of the 12 designers on this season’s Project Runway. The first show premiers Thursday night, July 18th on Lifetime.
VCU Fashion hosted its first New York Fashion Week event on Monday, September 9th at Alger House in the West Village. The invitation only event spotlighted six collections from the graduating class of 2013, five from the Richmond campus and one from our Doha campus.
