The groups will be directed by VCU music faculty members Dr. George Stoffan, clarinet, and Dr. Bruce Hammel, bassoon/oboe.
- Students are welcome to bring their bass clarinets or English horns, and interested students will have the opportunity to play contrabassoon in the ensemble (after just a little bit of instruction!).
- Everyone will be provided with a pizza lunch (drinks included) and time to hang out with new friends and faculty.
- After lunch, Drs. Stoffan and Hammel will perform in a short recital immediately followed by masterclasses on each instrument covering techniques and concepts for improving and refining student skills.
- Parents are welcome to observe the day’s activities or spend the day visiting Richmond restaurants, museums, or other local experiences.
- All high school clarinet and double reed players are welcome to register, and there are no fees to attend!
- The event will take place in VCU music department facilities adjacent to Richmond’s historic Fan District.
