The Department of Art Education and the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU present Art: Personal and Communal”, a lecture by Terry Barrett on Friday, May 6 from 7-8:30pm at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU, 601 W Broad St, Richmond, VA.

Terry Barrett is Professor Emeritus, The Ohio State University, where he taught art education, art criticism, aesthetics, photography, and art. Beginning as a high school art teacher in St. Louis, Dr. Barrett is internationally recognized for his writing on photographic media, contemporary art, art criticism and aesthetics, and the teaching of these subjects. He is the author of Interpreting Art, Why Is That Art? (3rd ed, Oxford), Criticizing Art (3rd ed, McGraw-Hill), Criticizing Photographs (5th ed, McGraw-Hill), Making Art (McGraw-Hill), and Talking About Student Art (Davis). Dr. Barrett continues to write and make art in Sarasota, Florida.
