Hannah Bates received her MFA from the Department of Craft/Material Studies in 2019 with a focus in glass. Hannah is an interdisciplinary artist working in sculpture, glass, and installation. Her current work focuses on the material assemblages within an environment as a metaphor for the relationship between the built and natural world. Hannah has exhibited nationally at Page Bond Gallery, The Anderson Gallery, and ArtSpace in Richmond, VA; Beeler Gallery and Corrugate Gallery in Columbus, OH. She has received multiple awards and honors including a Graduate Teaching Assistantship and a Windgate Fellowship nomination. She has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University and was a teaching assistant to Sayaka Suzuki at Pittsburgh Glass Center. She received her BFA at Columbus College of Art and Design in 2017.
