Xiaolin Lan teaches Introduction to Theatrical Makeup at Theatre VCU.  She is a graduate of Theatre VCU with an MFA in Costume Design and her BA in Costume Design from Beijing Dance Academy.  Other Theatre VCU credits include being the Costume Designer for Macbeth and Musical Urinetown. She was also a Costume Designer for Chinese Classical Dance Nine Songs and she also was an Assistant Costume Designer assistant for Modern Ballet The Sunrise and Mahua FunAge: Sugar with Salt in China. She worked as costume intern in the National Ballet of China. She received a third-placed Award for The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui in the Graduate Costume Design competition of the Southeastern Theatre Conference 2016.  She was the Costume Designer on Iphigenia 2.0, Brave New World at Quill Theatre. She was the Special Effects Makeup Designer on Flying Over Sunset on Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater.
