Department of Theatre

Thomas is a member of the IATSE Local 87 and has also been known to work on events ranging from technical direction of satellite downlinks of large conferences and shows, all the way to occasionally mixing local concerts. After several years of work as the house audio for the Altria Theater, he is now serving as the assistant production manager for one of the larger theaters on the east coast with over 3500 seats.  Thomas is also  working in the area as the owner and design consultant for Leviathan-AVC, designing audio, video, and network systems throughout the area, consulting on live productions locally, and generally helping to provide the technical support his clients need.

In his almost two decade career Thomas has designed, implemented, and operated sound and technology systems across the country.  While his primary focus has always been sound since attending Virginia Commonwealth University to study Theater, his career has spread out to include work in video, 3D animation, technical direction, and production management.  Combined with previous experience in IT and programming, his workload has always been varied and the challenge is just what he enjoys.   In his time teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University, Thomas has had the pleasure to work with many brilliant students that have gone on to work professionally in theater sound, and mentor them through the design and rehearsal process, and is thrilled to see how they grow throughout this process into working professionals.
