Steve Ashby

Steve Ashby received his Master of Music in classical guitar performance from VCU in 2005. From that time onward, he has served as a member of the guitar faculty within VCU’s Department of Music. During this time, he has also taught courses in music theory, aural skills, and music appreciation, as well as the music courses within the VCU Dance Department. Outside of VCU, he manages a private lesson studio which lets him branch out into teaching genres outside the classical idiom. Ashby has performed for master classes given by Scott Tenant, Jason Vieaux, Aldo Lagrutta and Larry Snitzler.

When not teaching, Professor Ashby can be found building his compositional repertoire, which melds his classical background with influences from modern experimental, and ambient sources.
