Affiliate faculty member Rebecca Gates is a U.S. based musician, curator, artist, audio editor, and activist. Former leader of indie rock band, The Spinanes (Sub Pop), Gates has been featured on recordings by musicians ranging from Elliott Smith to Willie Nelson. In her art practice, Gates creates programs and work relating to issues of sound and space, listening, and the artist’s roles in their communities and has had her work shown on an international scale. She co-curated The Marfa Sessions, Marfa’s sonic exploration of land arts and is the co-founder of The Relay Project audiozine.
