Visiting Artist: Diedrick Brackens

Los Angeles-based artist Diedrick Brackens explores the intersections of identities, cultural histories, and sociopolitical issues in the United States. Brackens’ weavings incorporate techniques drawn from European tapestries, West African weavings, and Southern quilts. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions including the biennial “Made in LA: 2018” at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and solo exhibitions at Ulrich Museum of Art, Steve Turner Gallery, and Johansson Projects.

Diedrick Brackens’ work is included in collections at Oakland Museum of California and Ulrich Museum of Art. He is the most recent recipient of The Studio Museum in Harlem’s Joyce Alexandar Wein Artist Prize, awarded annually to an African-American artist who “demonstrates great innovation, promise, and creativity.”

Please join us on Wednesday, February 27th at 12:30 for a Visiting Artist Lecture with Diedrick Brackens.
