VCUarts announces new accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree programs

This fall, VCUarts will launch two new accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree programs, one in Art History, and one in Fashion and Business. The new programs enable high-achieving students to earn both degrees in only five years and offer a faster, cost-effective path to professional success by making them more competitive for jobs in the field or admission to doctoral programs immediately following graduation.

Undergraduate students must have departmental approval to participate in an accelerated program and must apply for admission to the master’s program prior to beginning their final year of full-time undergraduate study. Both programs will begin accepting applications from current undergraduates this spring.

Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s in Fashion and Business

VCUarts’ Department of Fashion Design + Merchandising and the School of Business’ Department of Marketing are excited to announce the launch of the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s program in Fashion and Business.

Students completing the undergraduate degree requirements receive a B.A. in Fashion with a concentration in fashion merchandising. Graduate courses in marketing, accounting, and finance are available to students in the undergraduate degree. The shared credits allow students to complete the master’s program in just one year. At the graduate level, students earn an M.S. in Business with a concentration in marketing management.

This unique combination of degrees provides students with the skills and expertise needed for positions in the fashion industry, from working with fashion houses or international fashion brands to starting new ventures. As a part of the prestigious School of the Arts, the Department of Fashion Design + Merchandising prepares students for careers in the fashion industry, emphasizing analytical abilities, creative problem-solving, and a global perspective. The VCU School of Business prepares students to drive the future of business through the power of creativity. This accelerated degree should position students with a powerful combination of fashion merchandising skills and business acumen.
