Scales of Indifference

September 20 – October 11, 2024

Reception September 20, 5-7pm

The Anderson and VCUarts are pleased to present Scales of Indifference, a multimedia juried graphic design open-call exhibition that centers around the artist’s individual interactions, understandings, and interpretations of time. The work included varies in scale, media, and relation to time. This show was curated by Jenna Casey (GDES ‘25) and Zach Montgomery (GDES ‘26) and was juried by Herdimas Anggara, nicole killian, and Lauren Thorson.

From the Curators

Scales of Indifference initially began as an opportunity to showcase an underrepresented art discipline in a fine arts space. Curators and Graphic Design students, Jenna Casey and Zach Montgomery set out with this in mind, working tirelessly to materialize this vision. Similar to the show’s objective of broadening preconceived notions of time, the variety of media displayed in this space also works to advance perspectives of Graphic Design as an interdisciplinary and unrestricted practice. By traversing this space, we hope that the viewer invites themselves to reflect on their own experiences with the past, present, and future.
