Madeline joined the Communication Arts Department to improve her knowledge of technical illustration, painting, anatomy, and concept design. She enjoyed the diverse variety of art practices and artists involved in the school as well as the large number of tools provided for students to practice their work. VCUarts provided her with amazing opportunities to study abroad in Florence. Since her entrance into her major, she has grown as an artist and learned how to work within the culture of the Communication Arts Department while expanding on her own practice. After completing her studies, Madeline plans to explore gallery work, concept and character design, and sequential work. Her words of wisdom are to “take every opportunity you can, even in a less than ideal situation, because you can learn a lot from it.”
