The Anderson is excited to issue Video Call #7 – open to all current VCUarts student artists working with video and time based media, regardless of major. Submissions will be reviewed by The Anderson’s curatorial team and projects will be selected based on strength of content and interpretation of theme.
The theme for The Anderson’s Spring 2022 video call is **~Fantasy~**.
Selected projects will be projected on the outside wall of The Anderson.
We are eager to receive your work and share it via this public exhibition!
Timeline for the Spring 2022 Anderson Video Call #7:
2/24 – Call opens
3/3 – Call closes *** Call Deadline Extended to 3/7!
***3/10 – Selected artists notified
4/1 – First night of screenings, 6-8pm
4/2 – Second night of screenings, 6-8pm
Potential subjects for your submission could include: the surreal, the abnormal, or the strange. The comforting, the intimate, or the challenging. Fear, growth, desire, dreams (day or night). Magic, the imagination, or the supernatural. Delusions, illusions, and the subconscious. Make believe and escapism. Small details in the day-to-day. Myths, legends, and fairytales.
How To Submit:
Videos must be submitted in the form of a Vimeo link. To upload video files into Vimeo you must first create an account. Creating an account and uploading content are both free services. Please make sure when uploading your video and copying your link that it is set to ‘anyone can watch,’ and the ‘people can download’ option is enabled. The different types of Vimeo accounts have different accessibility in regards to being able to make the video downloadable – if your version of Vimeo doesn’t allow for downloading, you can go ahead and submit your video’s link through this form, and then on March 7th when artists are notified of acceptance, we will ask you to email us the file for your video.

Duration:
The limit of video duration for this call will be 5 minutes. Preference will be given to shorter work so that we can accommodate more work into the reel. Where possible, plan accordingly. And when in doubt, submit anyway! Decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
Technical Considerations:
We request that the resolution of the videos be 3840 x 2160 size. Videos should be formatted as .mov or .mp4 files – we can’t promise that we’ll be able to support other file types. Content Restrictions:
As with duration, there are no fixed or explicit guidelines for content. If it complies with Vimeo’s content guidelines then, in a broad sense, it likely complies with ours. With that said, the Anderson is a public and inclusive space and, where possible, we appreciate your efforts to keep it PG-13.
