The Anderson is excited to issue Video Call #8, open to all current VCUarts student artists working with video and time based media, regardless of major! The theme for The Anderson’s Fall 2022 video call is **~Existence Now~**. Submissions of student video work will be reviewed by The Anderson’s curatorial team and projects will be selected based on strength of content and interpretation of theme. Selected projects will be projected on a wall outside The Anderson. Please see the link below for the submission form. We are eager to receive your work and share it via this public exhibition!

10/05 – Call opens
10/15 – Call closes
10/21 – Selected artists notified
11/04 – First night of screenings + artist talk, 6:30-8:30pm
11/05 – Second night of screenings, 6:30-8:30pm
THEME:
Potential subjects/questions for your submission could include: Documentation of the unobserved ordinary, documentation of the observed unordinary. What is life like for you in the present? The nuances of daily life. Changes in the past year(s). An experience that impacts the now. The knowing and unknowing. The comforting, the intimate, or the challenging. Fear, growth, desire, dreams. Feelings of belonging. What does the idea of existence make you feel? How does it make you feel?
How To Submit:
Videos must be submitted in the form of a Vimeo link. To upload video files into Vimeo you must first create an account. Creating an account and uploading content are both free services. Please see the submission form for more details.
Duration:
The limit of video duration for this call will be 5 minutes. Preference will be given to shorter work so that we can accommodate more work into the reel. Where possible, plan accordingly. And when in doubt, submit anyway! Decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
Technical Considerations:
We request that the resolution of the videos be 3840 x 2160 size. Videos should be formatted as .mov or .mp4 files – we can’t promise that we’ll be able to support other file types. Content Restrictions:
As with duration, there are no fixed or explicit guidelines for content. If it complies with Vimeo’s content guidelines then, in a broad sense, it likely complies with ours. With that said, the Anderson is a public and inclusive space and, where possible, we appreciate your efforts to keep it PG-13.
