Massa Lemu selected for Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts’ international Residency Program

Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts announces artists selected for its international Residency Program taking place May 22–August 16, 2019. The diverse range of disciplines includes ceramics, filmmaking, installation, music, performance, sculpture, sound art, theatre, video and writing. Represented areas of focus include geologic and hydrological processes; the relationship between rapid industrialization and self-image; the politics of migration and race; community and socio-psychologies in relation to geography; agriculture and the anthropocene; theatre spectatorship, participation and democracy; satirizing the mainstream; varied states of matter; migrant farm labor and the agriculture industry at the turn of the century; and the effects of technology on our identities, lives and experiences.
