Here Lies Beatrice – Screening this Friday at the James River Short Film Festival!

Categories

The James River Film Society is hosting their Short Film Showcase at the VMFA this Friday, November 8th, starting at 6:30 PM.

Our very own VCUarts Cinema alums Katarina Docalovich and Samantha LaBella’s short, Here Lies Beatrice, is one of the finalists!

Here Lies Beatrice is the story of a mother, Beatrice, who thinks she’s about to die. She prepares with the help of her daughter, Elaine. The film is set in 1960s rural Virginia and is reminiscent of the fiction of Flannery O’Connor and the films of Kelly Reichardt.

This film was written, directed, and produced by Sam and Kat, and their project was a recipient of a Dean’s Grant from the School of the Arts. Congrats and best wishes from all of us at the Program!
