William “Bill” Martin, director of the Valentine, celebrates 25 years with the Richmond, Virginia, museum on August 15. Martin, who joined the Valentine in 1993 as director of marketing and public relations, has transformed the institution and expanded the role it plays in telling the history of Richmond. He has also forged powerful partnerships with VCUarts, from lending his time as a visiting lecturer to partnering with middle Of broad and Storefront to mount the Monument Avenue: General Demotion/General Devotion exhibition.
