Community News from Craft/Material Studies: October 2021

MFA alums Sayaka Suzuki, Min Haeng Kang, and current MFA student Mark Tan were featured in The Cardinal Club, which opened at the Anderson on October 8th. This exhibition represented 10 AAPI VCUarts MFA students and alums across the PAPR, Craft, and Sculpture departments.

New Beginnings: A First Year Craft/Material Studies exhibition opened in the DePillars Gallery on the first floor of the DePillars Building on October 8th. The show included work from first year MFA students Kate Crankshaw, Nyasha Chigama, Stacie Sabady, and Abi Ogle.

BFA student Eileen Morley showed in the group exhibition, Where The Pieces Fall, at the Visual Arts Center in Richmond. The show features 15 resident artists at VisArts.

Selections were made for the Anderson Gallery’s 2021 Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, juried by Jennie Goldstein, Assistant Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Selected Craft majors include Brianna Cappelli, Chlo Finley, Shannon Harper Kane, Eileen Morley, Zoe Pettit, Neve Coppersmith, and Emma Worth. Selected Craft minors include Anjali Diezman, A. Rosenberg, and Max Rose Bell.
