It’s official! Starting this Fall, VCUarts Theatre will offer a BFA in Theatre with a concentration in MUSICAL THEATRE!

JJ Johnson (BFA ’97) has a monologue, “Inertia,” in the published collection, “8:46: Fresh Perspectives.” New World Theatre has brought together forty-four playwrights from the Black community to share their unique perspectives through monologues.

Drewe Goldstein (BFA ’20) is the season Directorial and Production Assistant at Montgomery Place with the Fisher Center at Bard this summer. Bard SummerScape 2021 programming includes Daniel Fish’s Most Happy in Concert, “In this concert version of Most Happy, Loesser’s lyrical score is performed by seven female and non-binary voices backed by thirteen musicians, giving audiences a new way to experience the songs of an American musical treasure.” Go Drewe!


David Gerson (BFA ’96)  will have a collection of his writing published this fall in issue 4 of Unzipped. The essays will explore the vulnerability of becoming men, particularly of living openly as gay men in the south.


Jordan Michael Green announces that Season 4 of Best Life is now available on YouTube @getEXTRAjordan. The web series follows Jordan navigating his life as a gay, black man living in LA.  Season 4 delves into relationships, love and growth. Filmed in Los Angeles, CA


Brittany Diliberto (BFA ’04) of Bee Two Sweet photography is honored to have FOUR of their favorite engagement  photos included in the World’s Best Wedding Photos contest, showcasing “The 50 Most Epic Engagement Photos Ever”.  See them at http://www.worldsbestweddingphotos.com/photography-contests/50-best-engagement-photos-awards-2021.

Leslie Anne Byers Ross (BFA ’85) has been cast in the Brief Shakespeare Festival presented by the City of Fairfax Theatre Company.  The actors present various Shakespeare scenes, while playing several characters.  The performances will take place at the Veterans Amphitheater in Fairfax during the weekends of July and August.

Lucinda McDermott Piro (BFA ’83) is currently appearing in the Wolfbane production of Steel Magnolias in Appomattox, VA as Clairee.  The production runs through June 27, 2021.


Kris Rau McIntyre (MFA ’01)  is honored to be recognized  for her contributions to Coastal Carolina University by receiving the Distinguished Service Award for the Academic year for her work on various committees including the Graduate Council, the VITAL committee, recruitment and chairing the non-tenure track faculty committee.
