About the Production

Midsummer was VCUarts Theatre’s first touring production. Our students had to perform the piece on seven different stages at seven different high schools, each with its own unique physical dimensions and a different student body. The mobility required from our students created a unique learning experience for our performers, designers, and production crew.

Our tour reached over 850 students at seven area high schools.

Teachers reached out to thank us for the experience—we found out this was many students’ first experience with any type of live performance.

The cast was dedicated and delightful to watch. They were bright and energetic, and a real joy to see…As a veteran (18 year) teacher, I appreciate it so much when a director can have such a positive effect on students of any age….I am an alumni of Theatre VCU and former technical director as well.

This production made me proud to say ‘I went to VCU, and you should consider going there, too!
