The VCU Community Guitar Ensemble consists of 25 talented classical guitarists from Central Virginia. Established in 1986 by John Patykula, this ensemble has performed as part of the Richmond International Music Festival and Richmond’s Big Gig summer festival. This "unconference" at Cabell Library focuses on the intersection and sharing of technology, history, storytelling and hidden voices. The event is free and open to all, but please register. Stephen Vitiello, Chair of VCUarts Kinetic Imaging, will perform along with Winter Count Collective in Declaration at the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU on Friday, Sept. 7 from 6-8pm. Vitiello’s immersive performance features an impressionistic mix of live and pre-recorded sounds that serve as a response to the ICA as a space. The Winter Count Collective will present a poetry and sound composition accompanied by a landscape projection from Diné bikeyah (Navajo Nation, AZ).
